Brooklyn artist-activist James Powderly, founder of the
Graffiti Research Lab,
has apparently been arrested in Beijing for planning a laser-graffiti Tibet protest. (He let friends know about the arrest via a Twitter direct message.) Five other protesters using Powderly's LED "throwie" technology on a FREE TIBET banner outside the Bird's Nest
have also been arrested. The comments on the Boing Boing posts about these detentions have been somewhat ridiculous ("What did he expect," etc.). Here's hoping that all six (and, you know, all other political prisoners everywhere) are freed soon.
