Can America’s Fear of Imminent Financial Collapse Save HBO?

Maybe! The premium cable network is now developing Bradford Winters's Americatown, a drama set in a future in which Americans have fled from their homeland and set up Chinatown-like communities in other nations. Of all the HBO shows currently in development, this one definitely has the most promising and thought-provoking premise — but by the time this frighteningly prescient series actually makes it to air, who knows how many Americans will still be able to afford a subscription to HBO.
