Is ‘The Wrestler’ This Year’s ‘Little Miss Sunshine’?

Following an impressive, Gold Lion–winning showing in Venice and an "intense all-night bidding war," Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Fox Searchlight for $4 million, the first big buy at the Toronto Film Festival. Variety reports that an Oscar campaign for star Mickey Rourke was "an essential component of the deal." [Variety]
