Syreeta McFadden might have set out to create a nostalgic picture of a swimming hole on a summer's day, but the scene is loaded with menace. It could be the film shot of some languid French noir film in which the sweetest characters turn out to only exist in memories or dreams. McFadden’s not-so-dreamy work is on view with other post-summery photography at Gnarly Vines wine store (you might be needing a drink!) in Fort Greene, through October 25.
