On their forthcoming album, Tonight, Franz Ferdinand go places they've never been. Strange places! The first two tracks to have seen some sort of official release are "Lucid Dreams," released this summer on iTunes and on the soundtrack to the game Madden 2009, and "Ulysses," the first official single, now streaming on the band's MySpace. "Ulysses" is the odder of the two, with its druggy, morning-after tale staggering through disco beats and waves of proggy synth. The extended final album version of "Lucid Dreams," not yet available, is rumored to be the most exotic track on the record, sprawling out into an eight-minute trance-dance party. Here, it just sounds like a Franz Ferdinand song.
