Back in October, we heard rumblings about Entertainment Weekly's "Recall the Gold" project, which asked 7,000 members of the "Hollywood elite" to revote on the Academy Awards that were handed out in the years 1983, 1988, 1993, and 1998. We didn't pay it much mind at the time because, quite frankly, what's the point? But now, some three months later, the votes have been tallied. After perusing the results, we would like to give our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Gwyneth Paltrow, Renée Zellweger, Roberto Benigni, Geena Davis, and Linda Hunt, all of whom can look forward to an angry mob of "Hollywood elites" storming their respective mansions within the hour, demanding that they return their undeserved Oscars. Additionally, we wouldn't be surprised if EW commissions Ned from Pushing Daisies to exhume the body of the late James Coburn, just so he could be told in 60 seconds flat that Geoffrey Rush deserved the Oscar more than he did. Nice work, guys!
