An agreeable settlement may have been reached in the battle between Fox and Warner Bros. over the rights to Watchmen — but once a studio tastes the thrill of nearly derailing another's superhero franchise, it's hard to forget it. And now, Variety reports that Fox could scuttle Emily Blunt's appearance in Paramount's Iron Man 2.

Blunt had been offered a role as Black Widow in the 2010 sequel, but Fox holds an option on the actress that was apparently in her contract when she signed on for The Devil Wears Prada. And now she's in negotiations to star in Fox's Gulliver's Travels, which shoots this spring at nearly the same time as Iron Man 2. Her reps are reportedly trying to find a way for her to play both roles, but "it will be an uphill battle because of scheduling overlap," says Variety.

We can't imagine that any of this will buy Fox much goodwill with the comic-book fans they expect to go see their own Wolverine in May, but we can't wait to find out which other studio's superhero movie they might try to screw up next. We just hope they don't talk Cher out of playing Catwoman.
