Is Wall-E Too Futuristic for Best Picture?

It's no secret that the elderly members of the Academy like to honor period movies and costume dramas that remind them of their youths in medieval times. But did you know that only one movie about the future (1971's A Clockwork Orange) has ever been nominated for Best Picture? It's true! SpoutBlog's Kevin Buist thinks this could mean trouble for Wall-E (we hope not!), and he's compiled a list of seven worthy future movies that Oscar snubbed, which is marred only by the tragic omission of Back to the Future Part II.
