Young Jeezy and Jay-Z Remind You of That Thing That Happened Yesterday
If you’re not quite ready to let yesterday’s good vibes go, this clip — shot, Cloverfield-style, at Love Nightclub in D.C. the Sunday before the inauguration — is for you: On an incredibly crowded stage and to an incredibly hyped crowd, Young Jeezy and Jay-Z unveil a “My President” remix that just about makes everybody’s day. Jeezy’s intro is great — “I wanna thank two people: I wanna thank the muthafucka overseas that threw two shoes at George Bush, and I wanna thank the muthafuckas who helped they move they shit up out the White House – get it moving, bitch! My president is muthafucking black!” — but the new Jay verse, as the far-less-exciting studio version attests, isn’t much (“I was hot before Barack / imagine what I’m gon’ do” is really the only sort-of-good line). Nonetheless, live, and intermittently a cappella, even goofy lines like “My president is black, but his house is all white!” totally kill.
