Big Boi’s ‘Ringtone’ Not Nearly As Annoying As Your Average Ringtone
And yet, he's still sweating Andre 3000.
Likely slated for Big Boi's oft-delayed official debut, Sir Luscious Left Foot, "Ringtone" begins with the sliding sound of a Delta Dobro and ends with a more polished plucked guitar, but everything in between is typical of the big guy: Miami Vice synths and vocoder back up Big Boi explaining that his woman must be special, because she's got her "very own ringtone" on his cellie. The song won't knock you out on the first listen, but, like most of Speakerboxxx, it'll grow on you. Or, at least, ingratiate itself, like any good playa.
