Biggest Oscar shock: Hugh Jackman devoted the first ten minutes of last night's broadcast to one of 2008's worst films: Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind. As Jack Black explained last year, to "Swede" a film, "you videotape your own version of your favorite movies and you put yourself in there and you make it short and kind of crappy but still magical." Well, the opening number was definitely crappy and magical — unlike the latter musical numbers, which were merely crappy. For a second, we thought they should have Sweded the whole ceremony — until we realized we might have been stuck with a tribute to Heath Ledger like this.
