The Oscars Pile on The Reader

Sure, we expect a little gentle ribbing from the stage at the Oscars; after all, what are awards shows for if not to give Robert De Niro a chance to call Sean Penn totally gay, Apatow-style? But didn't it seem like they sorta piled on The Reader last night? First was the Kraftwerk parody during Hugh's opening number, in which he admitted that, like everyone, he hasn't bothered to see The Reader. Then, to drive the point home, we got to watch Seth Rogen and James Franco just crack up while watching it. Sure, Kate Winslet won Best Actress, but at best, Harvey fought the Academy to a draw.
