When Marvel announced plans on Wednesday to move The Avengers' release to May 4, 2012, most assumed it was simply to avoid glutting the market with superhero tent poles in 2011 (that summer will also see the release of Thor, Captain America, and Spider-Man 4). But was the delay because they want Jon Favreau — who'll be busy with Iron Man 2 until next May — to direct? That's what a source tells Ain't It Cool News.
