Up Trailer: Pixar Gets Back in the Stuffed-Animal Business

  • 3/9/09 at 2:00 PM

Just in case you were under the false impression that Pixar's forthcoming masterpiece couldn't seem any more impossibly wonderful, the full-length trailer debuted over the weekend and, astonishingly, it does. In the new clip, we meet Charles Muntz, the movie's Kirk Douglas–resembling villain, along with Dug, a dog with the power of human speech, thanks to a special collar. After the studio's other recent films — starring uncuddly protagonists like cars, rats, and waste-disposal robots — it's nice to see an adorable puppy in a lead role for once, if only for the likely effect on merch sales and the fact that those will probably help underwrite future Pixar movies starring piranhas, Gila monsters, and cockroaches.
