Edelstein on The Human Condition

Masaki Kobayashi's ten-hour epic trilogy The Human Condition is playing at the Film Forum through Thursday (with three bathroom breaks). New York's David Edelstein survived it and has posted a few notes on his blog: "Yes, it’s worth it, but more for the experience — for the commitment itself — than because Kobayashi’s humanism will rock your world."
