Last week, the hammer came down on the Pirate Bay — its four founders were slapped with a year in jail and a $3.6 million fine in the copyright-infringement case. But they won’t be walking the plank quite yet! (Get it?!!!!) Their lawyer, Peter Althin, will demand a retrial on the basis that the judge, Tomas Norström, was perhaps a bit biased, seeing as he’s a member of the Swedish Copyright Association and the Swedish Association for the Protection of Industrial Property, and all. Norström’s involvement in the Swedish Association of Convicting the Pirate Bay Guys of Copyright Infringement, however, is at this point only rumored. [Billboard]
