Not only was Spider-Man 3 one of the most expensive films of the decade, it's also fair to say that it was also one of the most reviled. Clearly still smarting from the film's rough reception by critics and fans alike, director Sam Raimi tried to explain to Empire that it wasn't his fault. "They really gave me a tremendous amount of control on the first two films, actually. But then there were different opinions on the third film and I didn’t really have creative control, so to speak."
