In 2007, the Silversun Pickups looked a little like one-hit (“Lazy Eye”) wonders, but as Swoon, out April 14, approaches, they’re seeming more and more like critical faves (“genuinely exciting”! — Rolling Stone), with a blog buzz to boot. To us, they’re the same old Pickups — delightfully dark and grungy — and the unoriginal new video for “Panic Switch” just reinforces their non-inventive but entirely charming way with a nineties-style drone. All this kid is missing is some stage lights and a handful of gels.
