Relapse’s second single, “3 a.m.,” premiered late last week, but we needed the weekend to mull this one over. As expected, Eminem goes to a dark place here: It's all Klonopin, dead bodies, and Hannah Montana masturbation sessions. Which normally would be an okay thing — Em's morbid flights of fancy are usually his sharpest stuff. But ... well ... what the hell is up with his voice? It's hard to define, exactly, but it's thinner for sure; also, the way he's overenunciating everything now, it sort of sounds like he never quite remembered to stop rapping like Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. This is not how he used to sound, right? We’re not crazy, are we?
