By decree of the Jiggaman, Auto-Tune is dead! On Friday night, Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex premiered the first street single from Jay-Z's upcoming Blueprint 3, "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)." As you might've gleaned from the title, it's a moratorium on the use of vocoders in hip-hop: "You rappers singing too much/ Get back to rap, you T-Pain–ing too much," Jay commands. The Black Eyed Peas were to release a record tomorrow prominently featuring Auto-Tune on several tracks; now copies will have to be shipped back to Interscope and destroyed. On Friday afternoon, Jamie Foxx was riding high with a No. 4 position on Vulture's Song of the Summer charts. Today he feels only shame. Also, yesterday, the Smoking Section posted the above photo of T-Pain (via his Twitter) proudly displaying his latest novelty bling purchase. We certainly hope he kept the receipt!
