Well, this is awkward: According to Billboard, the Universal Republic distribution deal Drake signed in June is actually with Universal Motown, a label Drake told Fader this month he doesn’t “fuck with at all.” Why the bad blood? Apparently Drake auditioned for Universal Motown chief Sylvia Rhone three years ago but was rejected (an incident he references on his song “Say What’s Real,” in which he sort of calls Rhone a "silly motherfucker"). And why the secretive switcheroo? According to Billboard’s source, Rhone wants to take “credit for anything involving Drake.” In quasi-related, happier news, Degrassi Goes Hollywood premieres tomorrow! [Billboard]
