Bummer, dude! Jonathan Demme is now the second director, behind Martin Scorsese, to pull out of the planned Bob Marley documentary. Scorsese quit the Marley-family-sanctioned movie last May, reportedly over "scheduling conflicts," and now the Post says Demme has dropped out after his early edits left producer Steve Bing "less than impressed." Since Demme is not typically in the habit of making stinkers, and because of the similarly sudden and mysterious circumstances surrounding Scorsese's departure, one assumes Bing and the Marley family must be unwilling to compromise some very specific vision they have for the film. Sounds like they really need to mellow out. If only there existed some naturally occurring smokable substance to help with that kind of thing.
