A few minutes ago, Kanye West briefly managed to turn the premier episode of The Jay Leno Show into raw, compelling television with a from-the-heart apology for his outburst at last night's VMAs. In a deskless sit-down talk that was, unbelievably, even more uncomfortable-making than Jay's earlier interview with Jerry Seinfeld, Kanye expressed intentions to apologize to Taylor Swift in person, explained that he knew he was wrong "as soon as I gave the mike back to her and she didn't keep going," and teared up when Leno asked what West's mom (who died last year) might say if she had witnessed last night's microphone-grabbing. Also, because he was only scheduled to perform "Run This Town" with Jay-Z and Rihanna (which he did later), and NBC had to extend his appearance to include the interview, we figure Kanye probably spared America at least two or three minutes of that jackass singing at the car wash. So how bad can he be? Full video after the jump.
