On last night's season premiere of The Biggest Loser, a woman named Abby revealed the most tragic backstory of any TV reality-show contestant we've known: Her entire family — a husband and two small children — was killed in a car accident a few years ago, which led her to gain weight. The show, she said, was her second chance at life. Thankfully, Abby made it to the next round. Inspirational or exploitative? A little of both, we'd say.
