Mass Walkouts Plague New Production of Othello Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman

New York's Scott Brown didn't care much for director Peter Sellars's new "reimagining" of Othello. And, as it turns out, neither do audiences. The New York Post reports that "audiences hate it too, with most leaving at intermission." While this is probably a bit humiliating for the sultan of the skullcap, one Philip Seymour Hoffman, it probably pales in comparison to the time he was directing a play in London and bent one of his actresses over a couch while Lynn Hirschberg sat there furiously taking notes.
