Roger Friedman reports today that Precious star (and presumed Best Supporting Actress front-runner) Mo'Nique has pulled out of Saturday's New York Film Festival premiere of her movie at the last minute, causing her new publicist to quit in anger. Additionally, says Friedman, she's demanded money to make other promotional appearances for the film. So who, then, should the Academy give an Oscar to instead? Friedman humbly suggests Mo'Nique's Precious co-star, Mariah Carey, about whom he's written lots of complimentary things in the past, by sheer coincidence. [Showbiz 411/HR]
