Nickelodeon announced today that it's purchased the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise for the astonishingly low price of $60 million. In addition to Paramount's previously announced TMNT movie reboot, set to hit theaters in 2012, Nick will also produce a new animated TV show featuring the characters, which will debut the same year. This leaves some lucky songwriter only three years to compose an opening theme as glorious as the original. [Variety]
