Are There More Bad Lieutenant Sequels on the Way?

Sadly, the probable answer to that question is "No." However, that's not stopping the current film's producers from pitching some other interesting hypothetical director/actor pairings to rival Herzog/Cage. "Why can't we do Aronofsky and [Brad] Pitt?," Alan Polsky asks in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "Michel Gondry and Bill Murray? Who knows? It can go in so many directions and be a whole new franchise." And, if we may be so bold, how about the Luc Besson and Gary Oldman version? [LAT via Playlist]
