So far, buzz for Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus has centered around the posthumous appearance of Heath Ledger, who died mid-shoot, and his all-star cast of dreamworld replacements: Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law. But fans of Gilliam’s surreal work with Monty Python are in for a few flashback surprises, too. In Parnassus, Gilliam, who made his feature debut with the classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail, stages a few bombastically over-the-top song-and-dance numbers that might remind you of mischievous satires like “Every Sperm Is Sacred” from Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. After the jump, we have an exclusive audio preview of two tracks: “We Are the Children of the World” is a mockery of celebrity charity, sung by urchins at a glittery A-list benefit. “We Love Violence” is a rowdy celebration of police brutality shouted out by vicious police officers, who conclude their ditty with spectacular flatulence.
