The HMFIC did it again! With $202 million in worldwide ticket sales this weekend, Avatar has surpassed the $1 billion mark, making James Cameron the first director to hit ten digits twice (the other time was some movie about a boat). Avatar’s worldwide take is now $1.02 billion, which makes it the fourth highest grossing film of all time. This pretty much gives Cameron the right to yell whatever he wants at the Academy Awards.
