Clooney Works Blue at NYFCC Awards, Further Boosts Mr. Fox’s Oscar Chances

The Times’ Brooks Barnes wonders today if Up could be upset by Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. Citing recent surprise honors for the medium-grossing, respectfully reviewed Fox from both the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, he surmises the movie has the momentum that the blockbusting, better-reviewed Up doesn’t as awards season begins. And surely George Clooney’s delightful introduction (opening line: “I’m, like, Mariah Carey fucked up right now”) for Anderson, who was accepting for Best Animated Film, at last night’s NYFCC awards can only help. Here’s the video, courtesy of Jeffrey Wells (Clooney starts at the twenty-second mark). Enjoy!
