feud for thought

This Week in Rap Beef: Knoc-turn’al, Bumpy Knuckles, Waka Flocka Flame, and Other Crazies

Without further ado: The three hip-hop feuds the conscientious consumer was paying attention to this week.

3. Frenchie versus Brisco
Say What? Brisco’s mad at Gucci Mane because Gucci made fun of him for getting robbed, so he was mean to Gucci’s friend Waka Flocka Flame. Now Waka Flocka Flame’s friend Frenchie is being mean to Brisco and again making fun of him for getting robbed.
The Takeaway: This feud is boring and has produced no quality music. We’re mentioning it solely because we wanted an excuse to write the name “Waka Flocka Flame” a few more times. Waka Flocka Flame!

2. Bumpy Knuckles versus Cormega and Guru
Say What? Bumpy, a.k.a. Freddie Foxx, is an industry vet with not one, but two awesome rap names. This week he released the song “81 Bars of Murder” attacking his onetime pals Cormega and Guru (of Gang Starr.)
The Takeaway: We’re not sure what Bumpy’s so upset about, but we’re glad he is, ‘cause “81 Bars” has a few good zingers (“never been the type to back down from a fight/if it’s on then it’s on, do me wrong, here’s a right”) and a ridiculous beat courtesy of the Alchemist.

1. The Game versus Knoc-turn’al
Say What? During a radio interview this week, non-famous Dr. Dre affiliate Knoc-turn’al claimed that Game was almost dropped from Interscope before 50 Cent intervened and provided him with hooks for his debut album. Game responded via Twitter, saying, “4 days ago, knocturnal was hittin me on here, sayin how much he a fan & can we work, now he on da radio talkin sideways cuz I said NO! ha ha.”
The Takeaway: Everyone knows the Game is a crazy person, but his explanation actually sounds pretty reasonable. Also, while “u had half a hit, u only sold 3 copies & now u a crackhead !” is only partially true, it is fully amusing. Thanks to apparently having been born with no filter, the Game is quickly becoming a TWIRB legend.
