Sean Hayes is on the April cover of The Advocate — “The interview you’ve waited 12 years to read,” touts the magazine — and the big reveal is that Hayes is, yes, gay, which he’d never acknowledged publicly during his run as the flamboyant neighbor Jack on Will and Grace from 1998 to 2006. The piece is interesting not in its coming-out angle — even Hayes maintains that he was “never in” — but more in that Hayes finally gets to chide The Advocate for years of taunting him (in 2006, the magazine ran a clip job of all the various times Hayes avoided calling himself the G-word). “Why would you go down that path with somebody who’s done so much to contribute to the gay community?
