Daniel Radcliffe Will Move From Hogwarts to the Battlefield

Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe will play the lead role in an updated version of 1930 Academy Award Best Picture winner All Quiet on the Western Front, based on Erich Maria Remarque’s novel of the same name. The World War I drama details the story of Paul Baumer, to be played by Radcliffe, a young German soldier fighting in the French trenches.

The team behind the film seems especially pleased at landing the Potter star.

“Daniel brings a vulnerability and innocence to Paul,” co-producer and screenwriter Ian Stokell said, “When we realized how much he loved the script we were really excited because we know he can tap into the delicate balance between intensity and believability that is critical for this demanding role.”

Seems like a pretty savvy move for Radcliffe, no doubt hoping to prove he’s more than just a boy wizard, and this one (most likely) won’t involve removing his underwear.
