Stan Lee’s Super Seven Faces Lawsuit

At Comic-Con last month, Stan Lee announced he would be beginning work on Super Seven, a new comic book that would include himself as a character. The story would follow the 87-year-old Lee “struggling with writer’s block and encountering a spaceship of aliens in the desert,” at which point he assigns the aliens superhero identities and tasks. But it now appears his plans may be jeopardized by toy manufacturer Super 7, who owns the trademark to its name. The company says it tried to warn Lee against moving forward with the comic in February, and has now filed a U.S. District Court complaint against Lee claiming trademark infringement and unfair competition. Super Seven does have a nice ring to it, but perhaps Lee could just solve the issue by cutting an alien to make it a Super Six? [THR, esq./HR]
