George Clooney Will Orbit Sandra Bullock in Gravity

“George Clooney threw me in a pool years ago,” Sandra Bullock noted while accepting her Oscar last March. “I’m still holding a grudge.” Here’s hoping she’s since gotten over it, because Clooney just signed to replace the departing Robert Downey Jr. in Gravity, the Alfonso Cuaron space drama that will star Bullock. Cuaron has been struggling for months to get the project set up with stars like Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, and Downey, but hey: A Bullock/Clooney movie is certainly not a bad place to end up, from a big-studio perspective. The production has been pushed to late spring to give Bullock time to finish Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Clooney time to finish directing The Idea of March, and the rest of the stars in Hollywood time to line up behind them, should the revolving cast door spin once again.
