Watch the Trailer for Make Believe, a Doc About Teen Magicians

“Teen magician.” Are there any other words that conjure such a specific image of dorkdom and loneliness? Make Believe follows six such illusionists vying for the title Teen World Champion at the annual World Magic Seminar, apparently the place to see and be seen in the world of abracadabra. “I don’t have too much friends,” says 18-year-old Siphiwe of Capetown, South Africa. “My friend is magic.” There’s also Krystyn, who “could be the greatest lady magician that ever lived,” and a kid who turns CDs into iPods. The movie opens in New York on May 13, but it’s airing on Showtime all month.
