They’re Trying to Get You Excited for the Party Down Movie

Comedy nerds now have a full trifecta of unlikely sequels and big-screen transfers to wish for: In addition to the long-awaited, never-scripted Arrested Development movie and the new hope that is the sequel to Wet Hot American Summer, there’s now a Party Down movie that seems both tangibly in reach and somehow improbable. At an Alamo Drafthouse event this week celebrating the short-lived but much-loved Starz comedy, producer Rob Thomas said, “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie, and we are pretty far down the deal-making process with that … Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. So hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.” But bear in mind, Thomas produced the also short-lived and also much-loved Veronica Mars, which also was maybe going to have a movie and never did. In short, this man likes to toy with your dreams! [Gotcha Media]
