Tom Cruise to Play Very Short Version of Jack Reacher

In the popular Jack Reacher series of books written by Lee Child, Reacher is described as a six-foot-five-inch hulk of a man and a dangerous drifter with a propensity for fighting over talking. And who would be a better fit for the movie version than garrulous short person Tom Cruise? That’s who Chris McQuarrie is wooing to star in One Shot, the Reacher adaptation that he will direct based on his own script; the two previously worked together on Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie. It wouldn’t be the first time Cruise was deemed an unlikely fit for a role in a book-to-screen adaptation: He famously won over naysayers including author Anne Rice when he was picked to play Lestat in Interview With a Vampire.
