The first trailer for the $200 million Battleship is finally here, and it features the obligatory Taylor Kitsch head-shaving scene, not to mention a prancing Brooklyn Decker, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-her Rihanna, the voice of Jesse “Landry” Plemmons, and a super-serious bescarfed Alexander Skarsgard. Fire all the weapons! In Peter Berg’s defense, the alien ship does look really cool (if very Cylon-ish), but it’s hard not to chuckle at the board-game imagery of the missiles banging into the ship at 1:55. The phrase “you sunk my battleship” tragically does not appear in the trailer, nor does the admission that this movie scared Universal out of green-lighting more ambitious projects.
