When Glee: The 3D Concert Movie was announced, it seemed like a way to celebrate (and monetize) a TV show that, despite all its hype, was still in its relative infancy after its second season. Now, after last night’s news that Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and the other one would not be coming back for a fourth season, it feels more like a valedictory lap. The new trailer teases a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff and musical performances from the Glee cast’s summer tour (and there’s probably some Paltrow in there, too), but it might as well have the tagline, “See these actors in character while you can! They are all doomed! (But in 3-D!)” Also, this is not Cory Monteith’s week: Despite being the putative male lead of the New Directions, Ryan Murphy skipped him when it came to informing his cast about the Season 4 bombshell, and now he gets less screen time in the trailer for the Glee movie than Harry Shum Jr.’s six-pack.
