Amy Winehouse’s family has just released a statement saying that the toxicology report conducted on the singer shows that there were no “illegal substances” in her system at the time of her death. The statement makes no mention of prescription medications, but does say that “alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.” The presence of alcohol means Winehouse probably didn’t die of alcohol withdrawal, as her family had previously suggested, but the absence of any other illegal drugs in her system remains, impolite as it is to say, fairly surprising.
