The Good Wife May Give Christine Baranski a New, Younger Man

Bill Heck.

The last time The Good Wife’s Diane (Christine Baranski) had a man in her life was when she was dating tea-party-loving ballistics expert Kurt McVeigh (Gary Cole). It was a very age-appropriate relationship, but it was cut short when he left Chicago; the last time we saw the two together was back in February. But now Vulture hears (and this is your required spoiler alert), there’s at least the possibility of Diane making a new love connection … with a much younger man.

Per our source, producers Robert and Michelle King have hired actor Bill Heck (recently seen as closeted Mormon Joe Pitt in the acclaimed Broadway revival of Angels in America) to take on a role as a handsome and much younger Legal Aid lawyer with liberal politics not unlike Diane’s. He ends up giving her an award for her pro bono work, sparking a “hint of attraction between them,” our source says. Whether the flirting will turn into a relationship as serious as the Diane-Kurt throwdown remains to be seen, since Heck’s first visit will take place sometime in October. Meanwhile, Vulture can also confirm the TVLine report that Parker Posey is set to make a guest appearance on The Good Wife as the ex-wife of Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold character. The CBS drama begins Season 3 September 25, airing in its new 9 p.m. Sunday time slot.
