In the six weeks it’s been in theaters, the Tom Hanks–Julia Roberts comedy Larry Crowne has banked a decent $52 million, despite an incredibly weak start. A small percentage of that box office gross came from a California couple, who recently ran into Hanks at an L.A. gas station. According to the National Enquirer, the couple told him they’d just seen the movie and, though they’re fans, they thought it sucked. Harsh, to be sure, but Hanks didn’t seem to mind. Instead of spraying them with gasoline and driving away, he apologized and gave them back the money they spend on their tickets. Then he had his agent call the National Enquirer and tell them all about it. [Guardian UK]
