M.I.A. Rocks the MoMA Sculpture Garden

At last night's MoMA "Party in the Garden," stars like Diane Sawyer and Mike Nichols kept cool while LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy D.J.-ed and M.I.A. performed. After telling New York's Jada Yuan that she's canceling her European tour, she showed no signs of fatigue during her electric set. New York was there to capture the evening on video.

Exclusive Video: Dan Zanes Live at Spiegeltent

This weekend South Street Seaport's Spiegeltent was taken over by the king of gruppy kids' music, Dan Zanes, and his band of merry men and women. Parents rocked out, kids danced their fool heads off, and sea chanteys were sung by the score. New York was there to talk to the endlessly cheerful Zanes — who before he was your toddler's hero was a member of eighties college-rock faves the Del Fuegos — and to catch the show.

Video: Battles Math-Rocks Out, Live

On Friday night indie critical darlings Battles played a jam-packed show at South Street Seaport. Vulture was there to catch the set, which proved that the band is one of the tightest currently playing — and that drummer John Stanier works harder at his job than, say, most smelters. In our exclusive concert video and interview, the band reveals a secret love of Titanic and explains why fans of their breakout record, Mirrored, better not expect a new album for a long, long time.

Video: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at McCarren Pool

This weekend Ted Leo and the Pharmacists played a sun-drenched set at McCarren Park Pool; Vulture's got full-performance video of two songs from the show. Above, Leo plays the poppy "Me and Mia"; below the jump, the Pharmacists pull on their rockin' pants for a blistering "Sons of Cain."

Video: Two Full Songs From I'm From Barcelona

Yesterday we showed you the scene as I'm From Barcelona brought their exultant Swedish power-pop to McCarren Park Pool. Today we've got full-performance video of two songs from the show. Video: Inflatable Bananas and Swedish Pop From I'm From Barcelona

All summer, Vulture will be bringing you video of the amazing lineup of shows taking place at McCarren Park Pool. Every Monday we'll talk to the bands and the fans and highlight particularly amazing (and egregious, when appropriate) moments from the shows. And every Tuesday we'll present two full songs filmed live at the show.

I'm From Barcelona are not from Barcelona; they're from Sweden (of course). Most of the band's nearly 30 members made it out to McCarren Park Pool this weekend for an exuberant concert that featured confetti explosions, a bear costume, a tremendous mustache, and some extremely adorable power-pop. Vulture's estimable video crew was there to capture the scene — as well as a few childish antics from bandleader Emanuel Lundgren.

Video: Ute Lemper Live at Spiegeltent

Cabaret legend Ute Lemper brought her funny, sexy show to South Street Seaport's Spiegeltent Tuesday night, and New York was there. Don't miss our chat with Lemper, plus clips of her performing songs in English, French, German, and — at the superpowered finale there — maybe Siren?

Theremins and Rocket Balloons: Octopus Project Live

All summer, Vulture will be bringing you video of the amazing lineup of shows taking place at McCarren Park Pool. Every Monday we'll talk to the bands and the fans and highlight particularly amazing (and egregious, when appropriate) moments from the past weekend's show.

Octopus Project brought a thousand rocket balloons to their show and passed them out to the audience, instructing them to let the balloons sputter off into the air as the band played its space-age punk rock. We've got original video coverage of the day's events, including opening act Erase Errata.

Video: Man Man and Illinois Live

Yesterday we showed you the scene at last weekend's McCarren Pool concert in Williamsburg, at which Man Man and Illinois uncorked a bottle of awesome all over a sun-drenched crowd. Today we've got full-song video of four performances from the show. Above, check out Man Man playing "Banana Ghost," preceded by a brand-new song that we would title "Been Knocked Out Way Too Long," but which is probably called "Kitten Apocalypse" or some shit. Below the jump, check out Illinois playing "Headphones" and "One on One."

New York is the official media partner of the McCarren Pool Parties series.

Video: Man Man Go Off the Deep End

All summer, Vulture will be bringing you video of the amazing lineup of shows taking place at McCarren Park Pool. Every Monday we'll talk to the bands and the fans and highlight particularly amazing (and egregious, when appropriate) moments from the shows. And every Tuesday we'll present two full songs filmed live at the show.

White-clad and rabid, Man Man has made a name for themselves with their wild and passionate live shows. This weekend was no exception, as the band roared through their repertoire of music-hall ballads, sea chanteys, and shouted exhortations under a bright and beautiful sky. We've got original video coverage of the day's events, including opening act Illinois.
