Heath Ledger’s Wild Night: ‘This Is a Party?’

We can only imagine the conversation that induced the uninvited Ledger to show up.
Friend: Dude, dinner, Bowery Hotel. Be there. His outfit was inconspicuous enough — a red-and-white-striped "Where's Waldo" T-shirt and Pete Doherty's signature trilby hat — though apparently Ledger doesn't understand that if you want to fly under the radar, don't hang with Amy Sacco. And notice him we did: There he was on the roof of the Gramercy Park Hotel at Narciso Rodriguez's party, then downstairs at the Rose Bar (not mingling with Wilmer Valderrama, who was also lounging around) then again blowing past us in line at the Box. At the end of the night, we spotted him talking to a blonde who looked like a tall Edie Sedgwick while Michelle Rodriguez sat atop his banquette, her face adorned with painted-on stars. We never saw how Ledger ended the night, though we imagine it had something to do with the words "bungalow" and "eight." —Jada Yuan
Ledger: Free food?
Friend: Crab cakes, risotto balls, all f-r-e-e!
Ledger: Fuck, yeah!
