Narciso Rodriguez’s show and after-party were charmingly down-to-earth last night. Maybe it was the low-key Sunday time slot — or Ivanka Trump. Having just come from the U.S. Open, she was admittedly “casual” in a vintage peasant-y dress, almost no makeup, and gold flat sandals from “I don’t know where.” Trump, who we overheard call her father the “Godzilla of real estate” while chatting with Rachel Weisz, pointed out that fashion isn't really part of her industry. “I just sort of have to dress for construction sites all day.”

Down-to-earth-ness continued at the Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop after-party. Guests actually ate off the platters of cheeses, fatty meats, and pesto fusili. Rodriguez admitted to having the “jitters” before his show; the designers who claim not to get nervous, he said, must be “better men … and better women.” Finally, we spotted Donna Karan, who said Rodriguez is like her “son,” looking more casual than we’d ever seen her in baggy white Capris. “Everyone’s running around here in heels, and I’m in sneakers!” Maybe that's why the doorman had to ask her name.
