Proenza Schouler moved uptown to the magnificent Park Avenue Armory this year, and their fans came with them. We spotted the usual cadre of interchangeable blonde fashion editors, a sprinkling of socialites (including Aerin Lauder and avowed Proenza lover Jessica Joffe, who was wearing the same outfit she had on at the 11 a.m. Sari Gueron show — scandale!), and, of course, Anna Wintour, this time with daughter Bee Shaffer in tow.

Where Her Bobaliciousness goes, André Leon Talley follows, although, disappointingly, sans cape tonight. As is his wont, ALT swept into the venue, wandered around, then turned to a woman in the front row of our section and announced, “I’m just going to sit here,” as he took a spot. She, of course, just smiled. Because no one can refuse ALT. He’s mastered the hypnotic power of suggestion — what else explains how he talked Jennifer Hudson into her Oscar Bolero of Shame?

In terms of Folks People Who Don’t Read Vogue Would Recognize, though Mischa Barton did not make her promised appearance (that we could tell — maybe she was in disguise), Demi Moore and her curtains of hair did, as did fellow cougar Gina Gershon, who was wearing her hair in two little twists. We also glimpsed Kyra Sedgwick (who is tiny in person) and what looked like a possible Sedgwick-Bacon progeny. Kyra got some face time with Anna Wintour — was she giving Anna spoilers about the season finale of The Closer, or dishing about how cute Jon Tenney is in person? Was Anna giving Kyra leg-waxing tips?

We’ll never know. Just as we were began eavesdropping, we were ushered to our seats. “PLEASE UNCROSS YOUR LEGS,” one of the photographers bellowed when he got a gander at the narrow runway lined with women in imposing shoes. This marks the first time a fashion show began the same way as an appointment with the gynecologist. We’ll take Proenza — especially that knockout gold-leaf dress — any day. —The Fug Girls
