How to Win Over Alexander Wang

Some designers are known for playing favorites with models. Carmen Kass basically lives on the Michael Kors runway. Natasha Poly’s a go-to for Gucci. Luckily for up-and-coming models, there are also designers like Alexander Wang, who gives the newbies a real shot. He said he likes how rising novices give the show “a fresh feeling.” Fresh, indeed: He was the first designer to pick up Amanda Laine, who went on to huge bookings all over Paris. So, how can you earn a spot on his September runway? “It’s the attitude and feeling you get from a girl when she walks in. If she’s confident and has an awesome stomp, we’ll prob book her,” Wang said. So, girls, ditch your wallflower ways and work on your walk. You’ve got all summer. —Kendall Herbst
