Everyone, take a deep breath. The Bloomingdale's strike has been called off. The 59th Street flagship store had been negotiating with its workers on a new contract but until now were unable to agree on salary. The workers' union planned to strike at 6 p.m. today if there was no resolution. However, the stars lined up and the heavens parted, allowing both sides to come together in harmony and sing "Kumbaya." Or something. WWD reports:
"We've agreed to everything except the health plan," [Stuart Applebaum, president of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union] said. "We've concluded most of our negotiations but will continue to negotiate over the health plan for two more weeks, until midnight on May 15."

Hear that, workers? You win! Just don't get sick. Now then, may the spring shopping season resume!
